🔧 Quick Overview of the Wires:
✅ Your Options: Two Scenarios
1. Using a CANBUS Decoder (Recommended)
If your radio came with a CANBUS decoder box, do this:
-
KEY1/KEY2: Connect to the wires coming out of the CANBUS decoder. Usually only KEY1 is used — KEY2 is there for dual-zone setups or redundancy.
-
CAN H / CAN L: Connect these from the decoder box to the car’s CAN lines — usually located in the car’s ISO wiring harness (pins 6 & 14 on OBD2 connector).
Do NOT connect KEY1/KEY2 directly to CAN H/L. That won’t work — different signal type!
2. No CANBUS Box (Manual Wiring)
If your unit doesn’t have a CAN decoder and you’re going direct analog, then:
-
Identify your steering wheel control wire in the car’s OEM harness — in Astra H, it’s usually a gray/yellow wire (check with multimeter).
-
Connect that wire to KEY1 input on the Android unit.
-
Leave KEY2 unconnected (unless you have a second SWC wire).
-
Ground the SWC system properly — many times it needs a dedicated ground.
🧠 Important Tips:
-
Only one of KEY1 or KEY2 is typically used.
-
Never connect KEY wires directly to CAN wires.
-
Make sure to go into the radio settings > steering wheel learning and assign functions manually.
-
If CAN decoder is not included and you want full integration (e.g., display climate info, retain steering buttons), consider buying a dedicated CANBUS interface for Astra H (e.g., Connects2 or similar).
